FG distributes farm inputs to 39 maize farmers in Edo

To 39 corn farmers in Edo State, the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in partnership with the Edo Agricultural Development Project (ADP), provided maize seeds and agrochemicals on Thursday.

According to NAN, the ministry’s Edo Coordinator, Samuel Owoicho, maize seeds were given out for late-season planting, which started in August.

According to Owoicho, the initiative is being carried out as an emergency means of providing South-South, South-West, and South-East inputs for late-season planting to maize farmers and extension workers.

“At this time, these are for 39 maize farmers that we have captured, but we are going to carry out similar distribution across other agricultural value chains,” he said. In order to build riches for themselves, he advised the farmers to utilize the inputs well.

The farmers were chosen from each of the state’s three senatorial districts, according to Edward Izevbigie, Project Manager for Edo ADP. We choose from a database that included farmers across the entire state. “Maize best practices have already been trained to the farmers,” he stated. Izevbigie, on the other hand, forewarned the farmers not to sell the inputs and mentioned that the ministry had sent teams to observe the farmers’ movements around the state.
